How it worksShow guide

Introduction

Find the final sale price and how much you save when a product is discounted by a percentage.

Formula

Sale price is the original price reduced by the discount percentage. Savings equal original price times discount ÷ 100.

S=P(1d100)S = P \left(1 - \frac{d}{100}\right)
  • P Original price
  • d Discount percentage
  • S Sale price

Step-by-step

  1. Enter the original (list) price.
  2. Enter the discount percentage.
  3. Sale price = original × (1 − discount ÷ 100).

Worked example

A $80 item at 25% off costs $60 — you save $20.

Use cases

  • Check store sale prices quickly
  • Compare coupon discounts
  • Verify checkout totals before buying

Frequently asked questions

Does this include tax?

No. Enter the pre-tax or post-tax price depending on what the discount applies to, then use the GST calculator if needed.

What about successive discounts?

Apply the first discount, then run the calculator again on the new price with the second discount rate.
