Introduction

Calculate how much fertilizer you need from field area and the recommended rate in kg per hectare.

Formula

Fertilizer mass equals area in hectares times the recommended rate per hectare.

F=AharF = A_{\mathrm{ha}} \cdot r
  • A_ha Area in hectares
  • r Application rate (kg/ha)
  • F Total fertilizer required (kg)

Step-by-step

  1. Enter field area in hectares or acres.
  2. Enter the recommended rate in kg/ha.
  3. Set bag weight (often 50 kg) to see bag count.

Worked example

1.5 ha at 120 kg/ha needs 180 kg — about 3.6 bags of 50 kg.

Use cases

  • Order the right number of fertilizer bags
  • Split NPK applications by plot size
  • Budget input costs before planting
