Introduction

Compute cumulative GPA (CGPA) from semester GPAs and optional semester credit totals — common for university transcripts in India and elsewhere.

Formula

Cumulative GPA weights each semester GPA by that semester’s credits. Equal weights are used when credits are omitted.

CGPA=(SGPAiCi)Ci\mathrm{CGPA} = \frac{\sum (\mathrm{SGPA}_i \cdot C_i)}{\sum C_i}
  • SGPA_i GPA for semester i
  • C_i Total credits in semester i

Step-by-step

  1. Enter each semester GPA, separated by commas.
  2. Optionally enter matching semester credit totals.
  3. Review CGPA and the unweighted SGPA average.

Worked example

Four SGPAs with credits 22, 24, 20, 22 yield a credit-weighted CGPA of about 8.14.

Use cases

  • Combine multiple semester SGPAs into one CGPA
  • Weight heavier terms by credit load
  • Track cumulative progress toward graduation requirements

Frequently asked questions

Is CGPA the same as GPA?
