Introduction

Calculate a semester or term GPA from course grade points and optional credit hours. Works with 4.0 or 10.0 scales as long as you enter consistent points.

Formula

GPA is the credit-weighted average of grade points. If credits are omitted, each course counts equally.

GPA=(gici)ci\mathrm{GPA} = \frac{\sum (g_i \cdot c_i)}{\sum c_i}
  • g_i Grade points for course i
  • c_i Credit hours for course i

Step-by-step

  1. Enter grade points for each course (comma-separated).
  2. Optionally enter matching credit hours.
  3. Review GPA, quality points, and total credits.

Worked example

With grade points 4, 3.7, 3.3, 4 and credits 3, 3, 4, 2, quality points are 43.3 over 12 credits → GPA ≈ 3.6083.

Use cases

  • Compute semester GPA from transcript grades
  • Weight honors courses by credit hours
  • Estimate GPA before final marks are posted
