Introduction

Find how many marks you still need on remaining exams or assignments to hit a target overall percentage.

Formula

Marks still required equal the target overall marks minus what you have already scored.

mneed=t%(Mc+Mr)mcm_{\mathrm{need}} = t\% \cdot (M_c + M_r) - m_c
  • t% Target overall percentage (as a fraction in the formula)
  • M_c Marks already assessed (current total)
  • M_r Remaining maximum marks
  • m_c Marks already scored

Step-by-step

  1. Enter marks already scored and the total for work already done.
  2. Enter the maximum marks still ahead.
  3. Enter your target overall percentage.

Worked example

For 75% of 300 overall marks you need 225 total. With 140 already scored, you need 85 more on the remaining 100 → 85%.

Use cases

  • Plan final-exam effort for a target grade
  • Check if a percentage goal is still reachable
  • Split a target across remaining papers

Frequently asked questions

What if the result says impossible?

Even scoring full marks on remaining assessments would leave you below the target. Lower the target or confirm your inputs.
